SeaShell Sanctuary is our home in the USA. We are residents of the UK, coming to the States when possible. We enjoy bird watching and found the perfect home to do both. Across the street from Osprey Cove, our home allows us the balcony for bird watching over the marsh.
When not birdwatching, we enjoy bicycle riding. With the entire island of Cedar Key being .91 sq. mile (2.35 sq. km), we can ride anywhere within 20 minutes.
With this in mind, we have furnished our home with four bicycles. As our guest, you are welcome to use the bicycles.
Cedar Key is 60 miles (96.5 km) WSW of Gainesville Florida, 2 hours north of Tampa, and a 3 hour drive from Orlando. We would like to be your "real Florida" vacation spot, close enough for a day trip, yet far enough to experience the true nature of Florida. We have no high rises, no congestion, no traffic jams; we do have friendly locals, locally owned and managed shops and art galleries, and no chain restaurants nor chain stores.
Our home can accommodate 6, with a queen bed in the master bedroom, twin beds in the second bedroom and a fold out sleeper sofa in the living room. There are two baths, both full, one located privately off the master bedroom, the other conveniently located just off the living room and second bedroom.
A leisurely ride on a golf cart is the perfect way to see Cedar Key. Golf cart rentals are available by the hour, day, week or month at The Gulf Kart Company. Wish to rent a motor boat? Motor boat rentals are available at Cedar Key Island Hopper . Are you a kayaker? Kayak rentals can be had at Kayak Cedar Key.
Boat tours are also available, the Cedar Key Chamber of Commerce has fishing guides and boat captains for hire.
